ACB Sholarship Imformation

 

 

The American Council of the Blind of Maine is all of you.  In order for us to be a strong voice in blindness issues we need the voices of many. Please be sure to update your membership if you are a past Member and, if you are new to Maine's blindness community, we welcome you to join us.

The American Council of the Blind (ACB) of Maine:

  • Works to improve and enrich the quality of life for Maine people who are blind or visually impaired.

  • Focuses on independence, security, and opportunity.

  • Advocates for civil rights, equal opportunity, accessibility, employment, and rehabilitation services.

  • Sponsors legislative activities and promotes programs to benefit people who are blind or visually impaired.

  •  Awards a yearly scholarship for post secondary education to a Maine

  •  student who is legally blind.

 

Membership privileges

  • ACB of Maine newsletter, published in large print, audio cassette, or braille.

  • Publication of the ACB of Maine annual convention held in October.

  • Participation in bi-monthly board meetings.

  • Participation in affiliate meetings throughout the state.

  • Membership in the National American Council of the Blind.

  • Subscription to The Braille Forum, available in large print, audio cassette, and on computer disk.

Most importantly you will become a part of a national and state association of individuals devoted to the betterment of the live of the blind and visually impaired persons.
